About Florida

If you think of vacation, sunshine, and beaches on the continental United States then you’re probably thinking about Florida. The ‘sunshine state’ is part of the southeastern region of the United States. Its name meaning ‘land of flowers,’ Florida is a beautiful place with lots of preserved plant life and beaches. Most of the state is at or near sea level, and it has the longest contiguous coastline in the United States at 1350 miles. The beaches are well maintained throughout the state and kept clean for tourists and residents alike. Florida offers more than just natural attractions; it features some of the best known theme parks in the world, such as Disney World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. Florida has several ‘coast’ regions such as the Gold Coast and First Coast. Located on the Atlantic Coast of the state is the ever growing Treasure Coast Region.

About the Treasure Coast

The Treasure Coast is a booming coastal area of Florida. It received its name from a Spanish Treasure Fleet lost in a hurricane in the 1700s. The Treasure Coast has done its best to preserve history, and many of the suburban cities have a historic downtown region within them. The Treasure Coast is completely shielded from the Atlantic Ocean by sandbars and barrier islands; this helps to protect the numerous lakes and rivers running throughout the Treasure Coast, such as the well-known Indian River. The Treasure Coast can be reached via Interstate 95 (I-95), the Florida Turnpike, and US Highway 1; there are also popular alternatives to these with US A1A along Hutchinson Island, the barrier island that borders the ocean, and Indian River Drive. The Treasure Coast is composed of Indian River County, Martin County, and St. Lucie County.

About St Lucie County

St Lucie County is the location where the Treasure Fleet that gave the Treasure Coast its name sank; the county came to be when it separated from Brevard County in 1905. St Lucie County is well known for its fishing, and has been dubbed the ‘Sailfish Capital of the World.’ There are more than a dozen fishing tournaments hosted in St Lucie County each year! The county has plenty of marinas, as well as deep sea charter services and professional guides to explore the nearby waters. St Lucie County is only a couple of hours away from the likes of both Miami and Orlando, so excitement and adventure are never too far away from you. St Lucie County’s county seat is Fort Pierce; the largest city in St Lucie County is also the Capital of the Treasure Coast, Port St Lucie.

About Port St Lucie

Port St Lucie, the ‘city for all ages,’ is the largest city in all of the Treasure Coast. Port St Lucie is home to the Professional Golfers’ Association, the Florida branch of the New York Mets, the St Lucie Mets, and many high class communities such as Tradition and St Lucie West. The local government is very big on keeping Port St Lucie safe and beautiful and is taking careful steps to help preserve local nature, such as the wildlife and local beaches that are never more than a few miles away. You can expect a relatively warm climate all throughout the year in Port St Lucie. The city has undergone an explosion of culture and opportunities for all who come, whether they’re visiting or planning to stay. Port St Lucie is a fantastic hotspot of the Treasure Coast.
