Seaplanes May Fly In & Out of Fort Pierce
CENTURY 21 All Professional

The Bahamas may just get a whole lot closer. The City of Fort Pierce would like to build a seaplane base in downtown Fort Pierce. Two carriers, Fly the Whale and Tropic Ocean Airways, have expressed interest in flying in and out of Fort Pierce. Fly the Whale currently has a maintenance hub at Treasure Coast International Airport.

According to an article in TCPalm, Fort Pierce is an excellent location. The waterway is not as congested or restricted as other areas in South Florida. There is good access to the shoreline.  And the water is deep. Plus, a flight to the Bahamas would be under 3 hours.

A Seaplane base in downtown Fort Pierce is at least a couple of years away. The City has to obtain a seaplane base license from FDOT and an airspace certification from the FAA.

Seawall Repairs in Fort Pierce

Hurricane Irma heavily damaged the seawall in Fort Pierce. But the City received good news recently. They have received conditional funding from FEMA to restore 510 Linear Feet of seawall and an adjacent sidewalk to pre-disaster condition.

If you have not voted early, today is the last day to vote. We’ve been talking up the importance of passing Amendment 2 for weeks. But it’s worth repeating:

“Amendment 2 is good for everybody! It helps communities thrive by preventing excessive property taxes, protecting renters from rent increases, and ensuring Florida remains an affordable place to live, work, and do business.”
