Would you like to have a strong voice in helping to improve St. Lucie County roads, sidewalks and rivers? The City of Port St. Lucie is looking for residents to serve as a volunteer on the Infrastructure Surtax Citizens’ Oversight Committee (also known as the One-Half Cent Sales Tax Citizen Oversight Committee). Applications for being accepted through January 11, 2019. This is your opportunity to help St. Lucie spend the new tax monies wisely.
Projects to Be Funded by New Voter-Approved Tax
Voters approved the half-cent sales tax in November. It is anticipated that over $88 million dollars will be raised over the next decade. Some of the approved projects for the new tax include:
- Traffic signal coordination at St. Lucie Blvd. & Crosstown Parkway
- New traffic roundabouts
- New sidewalks
- Repaving projects
- US 1 improvements
Members of the new resident-committee will be kept abreast of the status of each project. They will also review any changes or additions to the project list and prepare an annual report to the Port St. Lucie city council.
St. Lucie is a great place to call home. Projects funded through the new sales tax will make life here even better!
